Back in March I went on a lomi lomi experience day with a friend and found it was something I wanted to add to my repertoire of treatment choices. Its a form of massage steeped in Haywain culture, and it was such a spiritual experience I was deeply moved to the point where I needed to do more, so I have enrolled on the full 4 day course in November, after which, I will have the qualification to bring it into my practice.
Riccardo, the man who give us this beautiful experience of lomi lomi massage set the scene by giving us an InSite into Haywain culture and how deeply rooted it is to their beliefs and spirituality. He spoke of the connection to our ancestors and the wounds we carried with us, and through lomi lomi, how we can start to heal.
I realised that during the process of the lomi lomi methods and techniques which are based on the natural movements of the body and so, are done in one movement like a wave or movement of water, it was not just a standard massage, the opening of it was deeply moving and spiritual in that it strongly related to how a shamanic healer would open a healing session. During the massage, if words were needed, they were also used. Even vocalising and toning could be part of the experience which my friend and I were more than happy to explore. There is an deeper presence with the person you are working with during lomi lomi when done in this way. As a shamanic healer myself, I completely got it. I will keep you all updated.
